Your Library Card

Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.

Who can get a card

Any resident of Texas is eligible to use the library and check out materials. Library cards must be presented in order to check out materials or use internet on the public computers. There is no charge for the initial card issued to a patron or to replace a worn card that is presented at the circulation desk.

How to Get Your Card
     Adults- Any resident of Texas who is 16 years old or older, will be issued a library card upon completion of an application card. Resident muse be present a valid drivers license or some form of identification with a Texas address to complete the card. Application cards must be completed in the library.

    Children- Any child who is 6-15 years old and is a resident of Texas is eligible for a library card. Both child and parent/guardian must complete an application card. Parent/guardian is responsible for any damaged or lost materials checked out on a child's card. Children younger than 6 years of age are not issued library cards. Parents/guardians may check out materials for children under 6 on their adult library card.

Circulation Period
The circulation period for materials is as follows:

  • Books - 2 weeks
  • Audio Books and books on CDs - 2 weeks
  • Kits - 2 weeks
  • DVDs - 1 day
  • Educational and non-fiction Videos and DVDs - 1 week
  • Videos with two or more cassettes - 1 week

Reserves
     Reserves are taken on books and audio books in the library. Upon locating or receiving a reserved item, the library will call the patron. The patron is allowed one day from the day of notification to pick up the reserved item.

Renewing Your Borrowed Items
     Books may be renewed for another circulation period (2 weeks) unless the book is on reserve or in special demand. Books may be rechecked 2 times, allowing for a total of 6 weeks. Books may be rechecked by phone for one renewal period. Then the book must be brought into the library to be rechecked.

Library Fines and Fees
    Fines for overdue materials are as follows: 

  • Books - 10 cents a day
  • New release reserved books - 50 cents a day
  • Audio books and books on CD - 10 cents a day
  • Kits (Books with cassettes) - 10 cents a day
  • Videos and DVDs - $1.00 a day
  • Maximum fine amount on any material is $7.00

    All damage to library materials beyond reasonable wear and all losses shall be charged the price of the item plus $3.00 processing fee. Patron will be billed for the price of item if it is not returned in one month.
